Code of Conduct
The Pan-African Reconciliation Network (PAREN) embraces and accepts a wide membership encompassing individuals and organisations that are grounded in their work towards reconciliation. We encourage members to be active in their views both through contributing content and taking part in online discussions. While we encourage constructive input through opinions and criticism, PAREN does not condone engagements of an offensive manner. Engagements deemed offensive include:
- Racism
- Xenophobia (including offensive comments based on ethnicity)
- Sexism
- Homophobia
- Religious intolerance
- Cyber bullying
- Hate speech
- Derogatory language
- Comments inciting violence
If a member is found to be engaging in an offensive manner their membership will be indefinitely suspended, with an allowance by the member to appeal the decision. In striving to create a platform for inclusive and constructive participation, PAREN requires that members report offensive activities that may transpire.
We require that members ensure their content and discussions remains relevant to specific aims of PAREN, in order to create an effective space for learning and development.
Agreement clause: By joining PAREN, I agree to abide and uphold these principles.
